2nd phase land acquisition for SGR-'Affected entities to be compensated'

"Kindly cooperate to facilitate determination of rightful compensation to owners of demolished properties"

The CTI members who have been affected by 2nd phase of land acquisition exercise along the Central Railway Line to pave way for construction of the SGR project will be compensated.

Speaking at the meeting convened by CTI to talk to the members affected by the land acquisition exercise, the Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) Director General Mr. Masanja Kadogosa told representatives of the affected entities that due compensation (in accordance with the law) shall be paid to the concerned parties.

“I urge you and all the affected parties to cooperate with TRC and other relevant Government authorities to facilitate determination of rightful compensation to owners of demolished properties”, he said.

He said that 13 companies have been earmarked for the exercise, some to be fully demolished and others partially demolished), adding; the initial survey of the premises has already been carried out by the Municipal Valuers.

“The next stage is the disclosure session to determine and disclose the compensation value to the affected entities” he added.

Mr Kadogosa had also the opportunity to educate the representatives of the rationale behind the acquisition of the land and the basis for the compensation.

CTI has been working closely with its members who have been affected by land acquisition exercise along the Central Railways Line to allow construction of the SGR project.

CTI role has been to facilitate dialogue with TRC and other relevant Government authorities so that the affected entities may get their due compensation.
